Frequently Asked Questions by Transfer Students

You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.00 and at least 8 semester units (or 12 quarter units) of transferable college courses to meet the minimum eligibility requirements.
 
If you cannot meet the minimum amount of transfer credits, we will consider you a new freshman and your eligibility for admission will be based on your high school transcript information.

Although we have rolling admissions, we encourage you to apply early so we may process your application and transcripts in a timely manner. Our preferred application deadlines are:

September 15 - Fall Quarter
November 15 - Winter Quarter
March 15 - Spring Quarter

Evaluation(s) of all official college transcripts for undergraduate students are conducted after the student is admitted and we receive official transcripts. You will be able to see your transfer courses on Degree Works, which is located in your student portal.

There are no deadlines to apply for La Sierra scholarships.  Once you are admitted we automatically add the scholarships to your financial aid package.  The sooner you get admitted, the faster we can provide your customized financial aid information and clear any financial holds.

Official transcripts should be requested immediately after submitting your La Sierra application to only one of the following options:

  • Preferred (fastest and lowest cost) - electronic transcript service from Institution to Institution. Request official transcripts to be sent to La Sierra University. If the other institution requires an email, please provide the following email address: admissions@lasierra.edu
  • Or, transcripts may be sent from Institution to Institution to our mailing address:

Our university uses the quarter system. These are the approximate start dates for each term:

  • Fall Quarter: Late September
  • Winter Quarter: Early January
  • Spring Quarter: Late March or Early April

Applications are reviewed for a decision once all admission checklist requirements have been submitted. We accept transfer applications for Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarter.

A maximum of 185 transfer credits will be accepted from courses applying to the major and general education requirements (including AP and IB credits).

None of the majors are impacted and you can choose from over 60+ majors/programs.

Most classes have plenty of space and are not impacted. We encourage you to plan ahead by working with your advisor and registering early especially for those high-demand courses.
