Description:
The Spanish major is offered jointly through La Sierra University and the Adventist Colleges Abroad (ACA) schools in Argentina and Spain. Students wishing to declare the Spanish major must take the Spanish Placement Test administered by the Department of World Languages. The year abroad is required for all majors, except those who can give evidence of having completed secondary school studies in their native Spanish-speaking country.

Description:
The emphasis in Secondary Teaching allows students to complete teaching credential coursework along with the major in Spanish. The program is offered in collaboration with La Sierra University’s School of Education, which provides the courses leading to the Secondary credential. Those courses must be completed in the recommended order, and students will need to apply with the School of Education for acceptance into the Teacher Education program.

Description:
The Spanish minor can be acquired on campus at La Sierra OR through the Adventist Colleges Abroad program. If you choose to go abroad, you will have the opportunity to live in either Spain (at Colegio Adventista de Sagunto) or Argentina (at Universidad Adventista del Plata). Students who study abroad experience new cultures, gain intangible skills, and learn a new language in the best way possible.
Career Outlook
Employment of interpreters and translators is projected to grow 29 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. Employment growth reflects increasing globalization and a more diverse U.S. population, which is expected to require more interpreters and translators. The median annual wage for interpreters and translators was $44,190 in May 2015. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $23,160, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $78,520.
