Political Economy
Political economy prepares students for the advanced study of economics. It is also a useful preparation for careers in, or the advanced study of areas including law, political science, public policy, and urban and regional planning. Economists study the production and distribution of resources, goods, and services by collecting and analyzing data, researching trends, and evaluating economic issues.

Description:
The bachelor’s degree in political economy is designed primarily to prepare students for the advanced study of economics, with a focus on its political context and implications. It would also provide useful preparation for careers in or the advanced study of areas including law, political science, public policy, and urban and regional planning. Opportunities are significant for persons working as lawyers, economists, political scientists, and urban and regional planners. Additional pursuits include working as an analyst in marketing, research, and finance.

The median annual wage for economists was $113,940 in May 2022. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $62,480, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $207,230.
