Admission Requirements

High School Seniors:

If you are a high school senior, you need to submit the following documents listed below in order to determine your eligibility for admission to our university.

  1. Start Application

  2. High school transcript with grades through the end of junior year, GED, or California High School Proficiency Examination
  3. SAT and/or ACT results* (optional)
    *If your SAT and/or ACT test results are available, you may still submit results to the Admissions Office although not required to do so for registration.

High School Juniors:

If you are a high school junior, applicants may become be eligible for early acceptance when submitting:

  1. Start Application

  2. High school transcript showing at least 1st semester grades of junior year with a 3.00 GPA or higher
  3. SAT and/or ACT results (optional)

Honors Program and Application (Freshmen)

Beginning undergraduate students with 3.75 or higher high school GPAs and specific SAT/ACT scores may be eligible to participate in the Honors Program. Due to limited space, not everyone who applies is accepted; those who are accepted tend to excel in either their GPA, test scores, and extracurricular activities, or have supplied superb letters of recommendation and a letter of intent. If you are a transfer student, you must have a cumulative GPA of 2.00, and at least 8 semester (or 12 quarter) units of transferable college courses to meet the minimum eligibility requirements.

To be considered for admissions eligibility, the following items are needed:

  2. All transcripts. This includes a high school transcript* as well as transcripts for all colleges/universities, trade schools, or beauty schools ever attended where you received college credit.

*Applicants who have been awarded an Associate’s or higher degree from an accredited institution, or who transfer with more than 60 semester (88 quarter) transferable college credits, are not required to submit a high school transcript.

 

Transfer with an ADT

If you are a transfer student earning an Associate’s degree from a California Community College before transferring to La Sierra University, please visit this ADT pathway page for more information on how to apply and how to meet with a counselor.

 

Honors Program and Application (Transfer)Transfer students or students previously enrolled at the University may apply with a 3.7 or higher college GPA. In addition, transfer students or students previously enrolled at the University are required to have two letters of recommendation from faculty members. A transfer student or student previously enrolled at the University may request entry into the program as late as the beginning of their Junior year (with 88 units or less). For more information about the Honors program and how to apply, click here.

Students from all cultures are welcome to apply to La Sierra University. This one-year language program helps students learn to read, write, and speak in English as a beginner, as well as for more advanced levels. Students are encouraged to apply to the ESL program for Fall, Winter, or Spring courses. International students who were accepted to our English as a Second Language Program (ESL) are not required to present TOEFL or IELTS scores prior to acceptance.

Students who wish to enroll in the Evening Adult Degree Program must:

  1. Must be 22 years or older

  2. Submit high school transcript*
  3. Submit college transcript(s) with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher for all colleges/universities, trade schools, and/or beauty schools ever attended where you received college credit
  4. Must have completed a minimum of 30 semester (44 quarter) transferrable college credits, or have an Associate’s Degree

*Applicants who have been awarded an Associate’s or higher degree from an accredited institution, or who transfer with more than 60 semester (88 quarter) transferable college credits, are not required to submit a high school transcript.
